Dr Harun is a psychiatrist in private practice and medical doctor by profession. He is Honorary Secretary of Singapore Psychiatric Association and a member of the Health Promotion Board’s Mental Wellbeing Resource Panel. 

In the Malay-Muslim community, he started as a youth volunteer at Yayasan Mendaki and has grown into an active community leader as President of Lembaga Biasiswa Kenangan Maulud. He was also formerly a board member of the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) for 7 years. 

His other roles include as Vice-Chairperson of the Films’ Consultative Panel, Vice-Chairperson of the Review Committee for Welfare Homes and Board Member of the National Youth Council. 

Dr Harun believes in service to others as a life ethos. He advocates for wider youth participation in the community and he is passionate about uplifting families through improving access to education.
